Introduction
Thinking about how lonely it would be to start an adventure alone?
Fear not! New adventurers have the option of getting Shorty, a cute Galapago who will keep you company, give you advice on what to do, and provide you with buffs until you’re pretty much set on your journey.
How to Get [Help Me Shorty]
Follow the instructions from https://ro.gnjoy.asia/gameguide/?gg=1 until you arrive in Izlude.
Walk a bit to the left /navi izlude 173/210 and talk to the Dark Shadow.
He will ask you to take him with you, and say that it is fate that you two met each other. He will also say that he can be helpful in many ways, and that he’ll teach you many things.
The dialogue will then proceed to the Shorty Guide which is summarized as follows:
| 1. If you choose to take Shorty with you, the item [Help Me Shorty] will be added in your inventory. |
| 2. You can summon Shorty by using the [Help me Shorty] item in your inventory. Doing so will give you lots of help and advice. |
| 3. If you reach level 31, a new quest will become available to take Shorty somewhere. You will be rewarded upon clearing the quest and part ways with Shorty. |
| 4. Before you reach level 31, the menu [It’s Time to Say Goodbye] will let you depart with Shorty at any time. However, Shorty won’t join you anymore afterward. |
Continue with the conversation, and once the option to pick comes up, pick “Sure. Let’s go”.
As the Dark Shadow feels that you are scared of his ghastly figure, he will transform into a Galapago and officially introduce himself as Shorty.
Shorty will ask you if you have a bag. That’s where Shorty will stay throughout your adventure with him, as he implied that he will leave soon after all.
Shorty will then proceed to a tutorial which includes the following:
- Press Alt + E to see what’s inside your bag, and you’ll see Shorty [Help Me Shorty] in the usable items tab.
- When you need Shorty, tap [Help Me Shorty] twice quickly, and he’ll come out and help.
- Shorty will also say that if you don’t like him inside your bag, you can take him to Salty. That’s his destination, and he’ll leave your bag once he gets there.
If you inquire about who Salty is, Shorty will say that he will tell you later and that he needs to rest.
Once the conversation ends, you will receive the item [Help Me Shorty].
How to Use [Help Me Shorty]
Simply double click the item [Help Me Shorty] to use it.
Each time you use this item, Shorty’s dialogue will share some tips that you can use in your adventure.
After sharing some tips you can use on your adventure, the dialogue proceeds to letting you choose which service you want from Shorty.
Empower me!
This gives you Lv10 Increase Agility and Blessing with a 30-minute cooldown. You will also receive a quest called “Cheer up, Teach!” which you can use to check the end of the 30-minute cooldown
Where do I need to go?
This gives you advice on where you need to go, including current quests. Options are as follows:
- The path of a Novice Adventurer!
- I want to help people.
- I don’t like fixed paths.
- I don’t want to go anywhere.
Anything good?
Shorty will ask you to pick one of the options before giving you advice.

[Help Me Shorty] Quests
Optional Quests
Summoning Shorty can give you additional quests, depending on how much progress you’ve already made.
The quest To Criatura Academy will be given to you if you summon Shorty at a level wherein you’re already eligible for a job change. In this quest, you are tasked to find Job Change Guide Suja to know more about job changing.
Job Change Guide Suja is at /navi iz_ac02 205/41. During this conversation, it will also be mentioned that Shorty was late because he got on the wrong ship.
The quest To Prontera Church may also be acquired by summoning Shorty once you’re in Prontera. In the character used for the Optional Quests part of the guide, Shorty was summoned when the character was already tasked to talk to Priest Roam (this is part of the Reno and Lumin Questline that you may check out in this guide: https://www.roggh.com/reno-and-lumin-questline/).
Shorty will tell you that Margarita, the Choir Conductor, wants to see Shorty. She is found at /navi prt_church 112/119.
Shorty will mention that Margarita was only an Acolyte when she left, but she is now a Priest. Shorty will also say that he wants to evolve too.
After a brief conversation, she will suggest you to go to Priest Roam.
Parting Ways with Shorty
Once you hit level 31, summon Shorty and a new dialogue will pop up. Shorty wants to meet Salty now, and that according to Salty’s last letter, she’s at a pub in Payon.
Clicking the [Pub] in the dialogue generates a navigation path.
Head to Payon via Kafra teleportation, butterfly wing, or World Ticket– whichever works for you the best.
Enter the pub (Inn if you use the Map View) at /navi payon 220/117.
Walk straight ahead then down the stairs, and talk to the Female Chef at /navi payon_in01 193/23.
The Female Chef will say that she sent Salty to do some errand because Salty was dying of boredom. She asked for some acorns to make some jelly hence, Salty should be in the field far to the southwest of Prontera. Clicking on the [Coco Nest] in the dialogue enables the navigation.
Instead of traveling all the way from Payon to where Salty is, it is advised that you proceed to Prontera first and then walk or fly wing through the rest of the maps. You may also use a World Ticket if you prefer to do so.
You can find Salty Dog in /navi prt_fild10 318/190.
Note: Beware of this map, it’s filled with Elder Willows that are aggressive.
Talk to Salty. Shorty will explain that he went to Payon to look for Salty, but was told that she’ll be here instead. Salty will suggest that they go to Payon after stopping at Prontera, pack their bags and travel around the continent. Shorty will agree and say that it’s a pleasure to travel with Salty.
Shorty will thank you, and they will proceed to give you a Costume: Penguin Cap to remember Shorty by.
Parting ways with Shorty completes the quest and also deletes the Cheer Up, Teach! quest from the Quest tab if you’ve asked Shorty to empower you previously.
