Reno and Lumin

Introduction

Reno and Lumin are two of the first few NPCs you will encounter during the start of your journey as an adventurer. Taking their quests and following the story is completely optional, but if you’re new to the game or to the renewal mechanics, doing their questline is suggested as it also serves as a guide to some of the features of the game.

Questline

Izlude and Prontera

Follow the instructions from https://ro.gnjoy.asia/gameguide/?gg=1 until you arrive in Izlude.

Walk a little bit to the left and talk to the Amateur Swordsman.

The swordsman will introduce himself as Reno, and him being seasick at the moment, will want to puke. Lumin will appear and offer the banana juice to him, but Reno will refuse and mention that there’s a healer nearby who may provide a cure to his current condition. Lumin will go and take the special mixed potion from the healer and give it to Reno. Lumin will mention that he will go to Morroc, and Reno will suggest you to go to the Criatura Academy, which is being run by the Eden Group.

Go to the top part of Izlude and enter the Criatura Academy. Talk to Sprakki /navi iz_ac01 99/38.

She will register you as an adventurer and give you some novice equipment to use.

Talk to Sprakki again. Using the equipment she gave is optional as the game also provides Time Keeper equipment.

Sprakki will say that there are some things you must know before you start your adventure. She will tell you to meet the Kafra Employee in the center of Izlude.

Talk to the Kafra Employee in the center of Izlude.

She will talk about saving your location, butterfly wings, storage service, and teleport service. She will also automatically save your location in Izlude, and afterwards task you with delivering the Delivery Box to Tool Dealer Morris.

Go inside the Tool Dealer in Izlude /navi izlude_in 67/112 and talk to Morris.

He will talk about buying and selling items in shops and how to use an item.

The conversation will end with him asking you to find the Red-Haired Swordsman named Reno. He tasked Reno with checking his herbs in West Izlude, but he hasn’t been back yet.

Go to /navi prt_fild08 320/229 and talk to Ur.

Reno will come back as you are talking to Ur, and they will converse about skills and hotkeys. Reno will tell you that he asked one of his friends to do Morris’ quest, and that you should just meet his friend. He will also give you the reward he was supposed to get as he wants to train more. Ur on the other hand says he will teach you First Aid.

Go to /navi prt_fild08 226/230 and talk to Kid.

Lumin will appear saying he was looking for a Red Plant. He makes a bet as to who can defeat Lunatics and get Clovers in the biggest amount in the shortest time, with Morris’ herb being the prize if you beat him.

Defeat 2 Lunatics and make sure to get a Clover. Go back and talk to Kid. She will say that you got back faster than Lumin.

Talk to Lumin who will appear shortly after. He will say that a bet is a bet, and tells you that the herb is beside Kid. It is however not mature enough yet, and advises you to find another one.

Go back and talk to Ur. He will talk about the Swordsman job and tell you to think about it carefully as there are other jobs available for you.

Go back to Izlude and talk to Morris. He will tell you that a long haired guy already went and told him what happened. He will then proceed to give you a Combination Kit and tell you to find a healer to learn how to use it.

Go to /navi iz_ac01 61/43 and talk to the Healer.

He will teach you how to use the Combination Kit and advise you to talk to Sprakki as your level should already be high enough to do a Job Change at this point.

Go back to the reception area and talk to Sprakki. She will tell you about the simple job change that will not include the bonus skills that you can do at the academy as well as information as to where you can find the job master you need to talk to to proceed with the job change quest of your chosen job.

Proceed with your first job change quest. Once done, you will be informed that the Eden Group in Izlude has sent you a message and that they have a quest for you.

Go back to Sprakki at the Criatura Academy in Izlude and talk to her.

She will congratulate you on your first job change and introduce you to Lime Evenor.

Talk to Lime Evenor. He will discuss the Eden Group and give you the Eden Group Mark as well as the Paradise Team equipment.

Talk to Sprakki again. She will tell you that she has a quest for you and to talk to her again for the details.

Sprakki will tell you that the Prontera Church has requested for a clearing on the nearby area, and to go to the Prontera Church for more details. She will also tell you that another adventurer named Reno got the same quest, and that he should be near Prontera by now.

Go to /navi prt_fild08 182/358 and talk to Reno.

You will suggest going to Prontera at the start of the conversation, but he will tell you that he’s waiting for someone. A man named Bran will show up after. He will say that he’s preparing for a small event, and that he needs to put up some posters in Prontera. You will be tasked with putting up the posters on the inside walls of North Prontera Gate.

Go to Prontera and put up the posters as instructed by Bran. After putting up the first poster, Lumin will appear and read the contents of the poster. Lumin will ask if you read the poster before putting them up and leave after saying that he respects your decision to put them up.

Put up the remaining two posters.

A Prontera Soldier will detain you after putting up all three posters.

Talk to Reno inside the cell. He has no idea what the two of you have done wrong, but you already have an idea because of what Lumin said. 

Lime Evenor will appear to confirm that the two of you are members of the Eden Group and say that the two of you should have gone straight to the church instead of getting wrapped up in the poster issues. He will explain that the posters were something that the Goddess Follower Fanatics from Arunafeltz used to hand out before. He will also ask why Reno took a quest other than the Eden Group certified quests, and Reno will answer that adventurers should take quests from those in need. Lime Evenor will assure the both of you that the Eden Group will clear your names.

Reno will stay behind to cooperate with the investigation since he was the one who took the quest from the Goddess Follower while you proceed to Prontera Church for the quest. You have the option of having Meric teleport you immediately near the church, or you may go to /navi prt_church 106/99 by yourself.

Talk to Priest Roam. He will task you with defeating 5 Lunatics and 5 Fabres at the East Prontera Field. Once done, go back to Priest Roam.

Priest Roam will tell you that Raspberry, Blueberry, and Cranberry are not yet back, and will ask you to go look for them in Prontera.

Go back to Priest Roam and talk to him. He will inform you that Meric is there to see you.

Talk to Meric. He will tell you that his superiors have made the decision to find the Goddess Followers and investigate them. With the help from Reno, they identified Bran and will be conducting a search for him. Meric will also tell you that Reno joined the search, and that he wants you to join the search team as well.

Go to /navi prt_fild05 336/224 and talk to Reno.

He will tell you that the two of you are going to the map on the south which has monsters called Rocker, and to talk to him once you are ready.

*You should be at least base level 11 to proceed with this quest.

Talk to Reno again then proceed to /navi prt_fild07 276/335.

Click on the Searched Bush then talk to Reno who appears after. He will tell you that a poster that looked like the ones the two of you put up has been snatched away by some Rocker. This would lead to him saying that the two of you should hunt the Rocker.

Defeat 5 Rockers then talk to Reno again. He will say that he saw tracks leading to the east, and that the two of you should check that out.

Go to /navi prt_fild08 72/237 and click on the Suspicious Document.

Follow the Navigation to /navi prt_fild08 257/150 and talk to the Prontera Soldier.

The soldier will tell you that someone saw Bran on a ship at the northeast shore, and that they won’t be able to track him down if he heads to the sea. He will also inform you that Meric appreciates your cooperation, but the investigation must end here.

Talk to Reno. He will suggest meeting with Sprakki at the Criatura Academy to report your progress so far.

Go and talk to Sprakki. She will suggest going to Payon for the first step on your journey.

Afterwards, go to the Kafra Employee in the center of Izlude. Talking to her will transport you to Payon for free.

Speak to Grandpa to proceed with this quest. It will start with Grandpa asking you to get a bucket from the well. After that, you will head to Payon Archer Village near the Payon Dungeon entrance to do Reno’s quest.

Once you reach base level 20, talk to the Eden Group Teleport Service (NPC can be found Cities). She will tell you that Sprakki asked her to take you to the Criatura Academy in Izlude. Choose “Let’s go!” to accept the new quest.

Once teleported to the Criatura Academy in Izlude, talk to Sprakki. She will tell you that Meric is at the back because of the Goddess Follower case, and that Reno is there as well.

Go to /navi iz_ac01 114/57 and talk to Meric.

He will tell you that they got information about someone spotting Bran, and that the witness is Bedrova, a fisherman living near port Alberta. He will also inform you that he already let Captain Carocc know about you and Reno coming, and that he’ll take the two of you to Alberta.

Alberta and Sunken Ship

Go to /navi izlude 192/211 and talk to Captain Carocc to go to Alberta.

Go to /navi alberta 178/139 and talk to Fisherman Bedrova. Afterwards, go back to the Sailor and talk to him to go to the Sunken Ship. The Ferry Service requires 250 zeny.

Go to /navi alb2trea 98/67 and click on the Mysterious Shipwreck.

Lumin will appear and a conversation between the three of you will start. He will suggest looking for Bran together as it seems like he’s the one Lumin is after as well.

Create a party and talk to Reno to queue for the Mysterious Shipwreck memorial dungeon. Enter the memorial dungeon once it’s open.

Talk to Reno. He will check the room on the left while Lumin will check the room on the right. You are left to deal with the room in the middle. Walk straight ahead until Reno screams for help. Enter the left room and defeat all mobs. Talk to Reno then proceed to defeat the mobs in the middle room.

Walk straight to the group of Threatening Hydra and watch as Lumin kills them instantly. Proceed to the portal then defeat all mobs. Afterwards, proceed to the portal on the right.

Defeat all mobs and walk to the end until you see Bran and Lumin. Talk to Bran. He will summon enemies at the end of the conversation. Lumin will take care of going after him as you defeat the summoned enemies.

Once all enemies have been defeated, Meric, Bran, Lumin, and Reno will appear.

Talk to Meric to proceed with the quest. You will immediately be transported back to outside of the Mysterious Shipwreck after the conversation. Visit Priest Roam in Prontera to have the Flower Ring of Bliss you just received enchanted.

Job change and continuing the investigation.

At base level 40, Reno and Lumin will appear in the Orc Dungeon entrance /navi in_orcs01 19/168. If you talk to them at this point, Reno will mention about the second job change while Lumin will say to train more and suggest you take the quest Help Wanted: Monster Raids. He will teleport you directly to Prontera Chivalry to talk to the required NPC if you choose to accept.

After reaching at least job level 40, talking to them will give you the quest 2nd Job Change which requires you to meet up with them in Eden Group HQ after you finish your second job change.

It is recommended that you grind until you get to job level 50 so you can skip the job change quest.

Head to Eden Group HQ once you’ve changed jobs and meet with Reno who is now a Knight and Lumin who is an Assassin Cross.

Reno will mention that Lumin never said that he has transcended before and thought that he was just a novice like you guys. Lumin will say that he’s been dishonest, and that he’s going to adventure on his own. Reno will want to follow him and say that the group can’t part ways like that. He will then suggest heading to /navi morocc 128/80.

Reno will tell you that he made Lumin upset, and that he needs time to prepare himself. He will ask you to speak with Lumin instead in the meantime, and maybe help him with his quests.

Go to /navi morocc 52/294 and talk to Lumin. He will tell you that he does not want to talk to Reno for now, and that he’s going to help the old man a little more.

Go to /navi moc_ruins 104/121 and talk to the Old Scholar.

He will tell you that he dropped his shovel on the map where Verit and Minorous can be found. The quest Good for Back Pain is received, and you are required to retrieve 1 Field Shovel from a Verit and defeat 10 Verits and 10 Minorouses at /navi moc_pryd05 94/92.

Return to the Old Scholar to complete the quest.

Go back to Lumin in /navi morocc 52/294. He will tell you that he wants to continue traveling with you and Reno, but that he can’t do so for now as he has guild matters to take care of first.

Return to Reno at /navi morocc 128/80. He will tell you that he received a message from the Criatura Academy regarding a suspicious person who was spotted in Glast Heim.

Meet Reno at /navi glast_01 212/125.

Reno is tasked to gather evidence to back up the witnesses’ testimonies. He will tell you that it’s better to gain more levels first for the both of you to not get torn apart by the undead.

He will tell you to assist Claude, and he will also mention that Priest Lars from the Prontera Cathedral has given him a quest (Missing Priest) to check on how Claude is doing.

Speak to Claude, the sitting Monk near you. Pick the first option, Purification of the Church, and defeat 15 Wraiths and 15 Evil Druids. Return to Claude to complete the quest and then speak to Reno.

Proceed to /navi glast_01 148/49.

You and Reno will hear some voices talking, one of which is quite familiar to the both of you. Lumin and two of his guildmates will appear, and Reno will end up breaking a Goddess Follower mask in half.

You will ask Lumin to explain as you do not understand what’s going on. He will start with saying:

“An old incident buried in the past will soon emerge once again.

Long ago, the Assassins’ Guild had a disgraceful mishap with the followers.”

And keep it short to:

“They hired the Assassins’ guild to carry out some missions in the guise of quests. In truth, they used the Assassin’s Guild for their own gain. The Assassins’ Guild suffered… Consequences. However, some evidence was uncovered in Glast Heim and Prontera… Though the one in Prontera was a false lead.

According to the information we have, this mask must be from Rachel.

The followers cannot go unpunished. They’ve done far too much for us to just move on and bury the past. We must wipe them out entirely.”

Lumin will tell his two guildmates to go back to the guild to report their progress and to take half of the mask Reno just broke, as he on the other hand will travel with you and Reno to Rachel. He will also suggest going to Schwarzwald to get some training first, starting with Al De Baran.

Meet Reno and Lumin in /navi aldebaran 117/168.

Lumin will tell you that the plan is to cross the border at Al De Baran and head to Schwarzwald, completing quests on the way to help you get stronger. He will point you to the Middle-Aged Woman nearby /navi aldebaran 114/179 to do her quest first.

*You should be at least base level 70 to proceed with this quest.

Go to /navi yuno_fild01 196/153 and talk to the Checkpoint Guard. This will complete the quest from the Middle-Aged Woman.

Proceed to /navi yuno_fild08 171/181 and meet with Reno and Lumin.

Lumin will tell you that there’s no need to go inside the Kiel Hyre Academy for now, so you guys will just come back later. He proceeds to say that the new destination is Einbech, and suggests that you complete quests on the way starting with Ernst Schumacher /navi yuno_fild08 176/192.

*You should be at least base level 80 to proceed with this quest.

Ernst will ask you to visit his brother, Friedrich Schumacher, who works in the old factory area in the center of the field located west of the academy.

Einbech

Go to /navi ein_fild06 161/172 and talk to Freidrich.

To proceed with the quest, do his Neighborhood Cleanup quest which will ask you to eliminate 20 Metalings and 10 Holdens. Submit the quest and then speak to him again and choose “Talk”.

Friedrich will tell you that you can’t go straight to Einbech, and that you can only go there by train. As you have helped him with his work, he will offer you his commuter pass which will warp you straight to Einbech.

Meet with Reno and Lumin at /navi einbech 152/217.

Reno has to go immediately because he was summoned by the Chivalry and must go to Lighthalzen for training. Lumin will tell you that he wants to see Reno training, and that the only way out of Einbech is through the train heading to Einbroch. Once there, you can take an airship to head to Lighthalzen.

Lumin will suggest that you help Guard Atin at the cargo station by eliminating 20 Pitmen for him, but this is optional and the story will proceed even without helping Guard Atin.

*You should be at least base level 85 to take Guard Atin’s quest.

Meet with Lumin at /navi einbroch 168/307.

Speak to him, and he will tell you to board the airship to Lighthalzen.

Lighthalzen

Find Lumin at /navi lighthalzen 251/312.

Lumin will tell you he’s just observing Reno for now, but Reno seems to always get in trouble. He will also mention that Reno does not want to talk about the problem with him, and suggests that you talk to Reno instead in the hope that he’ll share the problem with you.

Lumin will also suggest completing other people’s quests for now to “add to your list of good deeds”.

Just across the road at /navi lighthalzen 205/310, you will find a group of people and Reno on his Peco-Peco.

Reno’s quest is available for characters with a base level 80 and up, but you need to complete the prerequisite quest first.

Speak to Theodore.

You will learn that he’s being asked to do something that he’s not trained nor responsible for.

Speak to Amy who is standing near Theodore. She will say that she wants to use the large pool, but there are Rafflesias nearby. Miya on the other hand wants Theodore to eliminate the Stem Worms which bit her ankle. 

Talk to Theodore again. He will mention that since he’s on vacation, he wants you to defeat the Rafflesias and Stem Worms instead. After this conversation ends, quests from him and Reno will be unlocked.

To proceed with the story, talk to Reno. Since he’s afraid of ghosts, he’s been having trouble completing his quest. Get the Grim Reaper’s Valley quest from him and proceed to /navi lhz_fild02 36/221 and defeat 20 Breeze. Once done, go back to Reno to submit the quest.

Return to Lumin. After speaking to him, the group now agrees to head to Rachel.

To get to Rachel, you may either board the airship and walk towards Rachel, use a Red Butterfly Wing, or use a world ticket.

Revealing the truth in Rachel

You will find Reno and Lumin near the east portal /navi rachel 220/128.

The group will now continue investigating the mask. Starting from the market, you need to find and talk to three NPCs for information.

The nearest NPC is a Merchant at /navi rachel 187/120.

He will tell you that the best craftsman is Rujelmina, but he doesn’t craft much anymore since his wrist has gotten weak. He will also tell you that Rujelmina has a son named Mantova who recently picked up the craft.

The second NPC is a Believer at /navi rachel 97/45.

She will shout at you for damaging the precious mask you’re holding, so you tell her that you want to have it fixed. She will apologize and mention that Rujelmina might be able to fix the mask, but judging by the imperfections of the mask you’re holding, it probably wasn’t made by him.

The third NPC is a Believer at /navi rachel 174/199.

She will tell you that Rujelmina does not have a store in Rachel, and that for a master craftsman like him, customers have to visit his house to avail his services. She will also tell you the location of his house, and mention that his son, Mantova, is in Rachel and seems to be acting strange.

Return to Lumin and tell him everything you learned.

He will ask you if you know where to go, and you will answer “Rujelmina’s House”.

As to who the group will be meeting there, the answer is “Mantova”.

Proceed to /navi rachel 209/247 and talk to the Believer.

Mantova will tell the group that he just made a replica of the mask because he thought it looked cool. He will also deny that he’s a spy, and that he simply went to Glast Heim and left the mask as a prank.

The group will not buy his alibi and decide to take Mantova and his friend, Hitol, to the guard.

Go to /navi rachel 145/185 and talk to the Guard. The group will explain what happened, and the guard will say that they took the culprits to the shrine for further interrogation. The guard will also say that they will notify the group about the result through official communications.

Before the group could leave, the Priest will come running and say that while they need to conduct further investigation, it seems like the culprits just did it for fun. They didn’t know it would end up causing such a huge incident, and their punishments will be decided in the shrine later on. The guard will offer two copies of the informal report, while the final verdict will be sent through their official communications.

Lumin will take one copy and report back to his guild first, and the other will be sent to the Criatura Academy.

Return to Criatura Academy in Izlude /navi iz_ac01 97/48 and talk to Kastenya.

Kastenya will tell you that they prepared tokens of appreciation from Arunafeltz and a reward from the Eden Group for the group’s hard work.

The group will then discuss what they want to do after, whether to transcend or continue to the third job change. Lumin will also explain what it means and how to transcend.

Before parting ways, a promise to meet again in the Eden Group HQ after reaching third job will be made.
