Introduction

Sara’s Memory is one of the renewal instances which came out in the Heroes’ Trails patch. It reveals to players the backstory and origin of Sara Irene, one of the 12 Valkyries from the Ragnarok graphic novel. This instance provides some low-tier (+3 to +7) Food buffs as well as some Monster Cards that some players may use.

Requirements

  • Base Level 99
  • Party (1 or more members)
  • New World Access Quest (preferably via Cat Hand Agent in Eden to have access to Dimensional Gap Teleport)
  • Time Limit: 1 Hour

How to Access

  1. Talk to the Dimensional Teleporter in the Board Quest Room of Eden Headquarters and choose to Travel to the Dimensional Gap
  1. Once teleported, walk northwest and enter the middle portal. Next, walk southeast and locate Adventurer Leon in the corridor along the next northeast corridor.

  1. Talk to Adventurer Leon to initiate the instance quest. After receiving the quest from Leon, talk to the Dimensional Device to boot up the instance. A message window will pop up. When it says you can proceed into the instance, talk to the Dimensional Device once again and enter the instance.

Instance Proper

Note: Refer to the Sara’s Memory Instance Minimap below to learn how to navigate through the map:

  1. Talk to “A girl” NPC as soon as you are teleported inside the instance. This girl reveals that she is Sara Irene and is waiting for her father Doyen Irene to arrive, who appears as you continue the conversation. Keep talking to them until they end the conversation and disappear.
  1. A new portal appears in the west. Enter it to proceed to Area 1. Talk to Sara Irene and continue the conversation until you are prompted to Escape with Sara. Doyen then calls the guards to catch you.
  1. At this point, Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs will spawn throughout the instance. Starting from your current location talking to Sara Irene, clear the Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs as you make your way south and then east in Area 1.
  1. Once all the Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs in Area 1 are defeated, a system message “Sara ran away again! You think she went in the 2 O’clock direction!” will appear. Enter it to proceed to Area 2.
  1. Slightly stronger Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs will spawn in Area 2. Make your way south while defeating them.
  1. Once all the Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs in Area 2 are defeated, a system message “Sara ran away yet again! You think she went in the 5 O’clock direction!” will appear. Enter it to proceed to Area 3.
  1. Make your way west from your spawn point and defeat all Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs (mix of both variants from Area 1 and 2). Be careful not to get mobbed as there are more of them spawning in this area.
  1. Once all the Payon Soldiers and Guard Dogs in Area 3 are defeated, a system message “Sara ran away yet again! *sigh* You think she went in the 6 O’clock direction!” will appear. Enter it to proceed to Area 4.
  1. For the next area, only Payon Soldiers will spawn around in even more numbers. Traverse through Area 4 and defeat them.
  1. Once all the Payon Soldiers in Area 4 are defeated, a system message “Sara ran away yet again! again! You think she went in the 12 O’clock direction!” will appear. Enter it to proceed to go back to Area 1.
  1. Proceed north and talk to Sara Irene. Doyen will call and summon Payon Soldiers. After defeating them, Doyen Irene will appear and fight you. Defeat him and he will reveal the truth of why he wants to capture you.
  1. After finishing the conversation, catch up to Sara Irene. Leave Area 1 through a new portal at southwest from Doyen Irene’s spot. Walk a bit south, and take the steps by the west cliff.
  1. Crossing the bridge, you meet up with Sara Irene. Talking to her reveals some shadow figures who take Sara Irene and say you should go back to where you belong. After ending the conversation, exit through the portal at the other side of the bridge.
  1. Once you return to the Dimensional Gap, talk to Adventurer Leon and tell him what you saw. He reveals more about Sara Irene’s backstory. With that, the instance has been completed and you can enter again after the daily reset (4:00am).

Monster Information

The enemies which spawn in Sara’s Memory are a mix of Demi-Human and Brute. They are all Medium-sized enemies. Doyen Irene and the Payon Guards are of Neutral element while the Guard Dogs are of Earth and Fire (similar to Wolf and Desert Wolf). Keep this in mind when preparing equipment which you will use to face them.

Rewards

After leaving the instance for the first time and talking to Adventurer Leon, you will be rewarded with Base and Job Experience. Succeeding instance clears will reward you with slightly less experience. The amount awarded is dependent on your Base Level. More tests need to be done with exactly how much is awarded per level, but you may refer to the screenshots of some characters’ EXP rewards below:

Lv99 Super Novice, First Run, x1.5 EXP (Server Rate + EXP Boost)

Lv125 Geneticist, First Run, x1.5 EXP (Server Rate + EXP Boost), 100% Battle Manual + Job Manual

Lv125 Geneticist, Second Run, x1 EXP (Server Rate)

Lv162 Archbishop, First Run, x1 EXP (Server Rate)

All the enemies drop food items which increase different stats from 3 to 7 (+7 stat food items dropped by Doyen Irene).

These can be treated as free-to-play alternatives to higher-level food items if they are unavailable. These can be stored in Kafra storage, placed in a cart, traded to players and sold to NPCs, but for 0z.

Finally, both variants of Payon Soldiers and Doyen Irene have a chance to drop cards. Below are the effects of each one:

Application

Sara’s Memory is a simple instance to run. It gives a good amount of daily EXP for low-level 3rd Job characters. Besides that and the Cards, it isn’t worth farming as endgame content for higher leveled players compared to other meta instances such as Ghost Palace, King’s Heel or Geffen Magic Tournament. Some server events also provide better food buff items like [NFS] Almighty, making the +3 to +7 food items from the instance obsolete. Nonetheless, it is a nice introduction for players to instance gameplay and gives them an option for some hands on experience on how to progress in-game.
