Introduction

Aside from the usual Kafra and Zonda warp or teleportation service that we use to travel from one city to another, we also have the Airship Representative NPC in Juno which teleports us to our chosen city in exchange for 1,800 Zeny teleportation fee.

The said NPC can be found at /navi yuno 142/183 and can teleport you to the following cities:

  • Prontera
  • Izlude
  • Geffen
  • Morroc
  • Payon
  • Alberta
  • Comodo

There are instances however wherein we would need to go to a place farther than the places the Kafra, Zonda, or the Airship Representative can teleport us to (Hugel, for example when changing to Hunter class) and that’s where the Airship comes in!

The Airship is a flying vessel which lets us travel from one city to another, and makes places like Rachel, Hugel, Einbroch, and Lighthalzen easily accessible to us.

Boarding the Airship

Airship Locations & Routes

Depending on where you currently are and where you are headed, you may choose one of the following locations to board the airship.

International Route

/navi izlude 202/75

/navi yuno 53/212

/navi ra_fild12 295/208

The international route consists of the following cities: Izlude > Juno > Rachel

In this route, towns are always visited in order from left to right.

It is also important to note that monsters may occasionally attack in this route due to the How the Airship Works Quest.

Domestic Route

/navi yuno 53/212

/navi einbroch 64/205

/navi hugel 178/145

/navi lighthalzen 265/75

The domestic route consists of the following cities: Juno > Hugel > Einbroch > Lighthalzen

In this route, the airship turns around upon reaching Lighthalzen and begins traveling the opposite direction until it reaches Hugel and turns around again. So the actual route looks like this: Juno > Hugel > Juno > Einbroch > Lighthalzen > Einbroch > Juno > Hugel

Price

The boarding fee is 1,200 Zeny. However, this fee is waived if you use a Free Ticket for Flyship which can be acquired from the Airship Ticket Quest.

To board the airship, simply talk to an Airship/Airport Staff or enter the portal and pay the 1,200 Zeny boarding fee.

Once onboard, you only need to wait until the airship arrives at your desired destination and disembark by entering the portal.

If your destination was Izlude, Hugel, or Rachel, entering the portal is the end of your airship journey, and you would need to pay another 1,200 Zeny to board again.

However, if your destination was Juno, Einbroch, or Lighthalzen, you would need to go inside the airport and then talk to the Arrival Staff first.

Switching Routes

At the Juno Airport, it is possible to switch from the International Route to the Domestic Route and vice-versa. Doing this will not require you to pay a second boarding fee.

International Route to Domestic Route

Simply talk to the Domestic Boarding NPC and proceed to board the airship.

Domestic Route to International Route

Simply talk to the International Boarding NPC and proceed to board the airship.

Monster Attack in the International Route

As mentioned earlier, monsters may occasionally attack in the international route. This will start with an announcement from the Captain.

If you don’t want to deal with the monsters, simply go inside and wait for the announcement that the monster threat has been nullified.

Airship Ticket Quest

Board the domestic route airship and talk to the Crewman at /navi airplane 50/61.

His name is Kain Himere, and you will need to talk to him and choose “About the Airship…” three times. The first time, he will tell you that the airship is powered by a little piece of the Heart of Ymir. The second time, he will tell you that there’s a rumor that a huge corporation runs the airship. For the third time, he will suggest that if you’d want to learn more, study to become a Sage in Juno or do your own airship research.

He will start crying after the third time. Choose “What’s wrong?”, and he will tell you his story. He used to be a miner in Einbech, hot-blooded and short-tempered. Working with friends as a miner brought him peace of mind, and he loved working on the land. Eventually, an accident happened that made him unable to use his right arm the way he once did and had to quit his job as a miner. He suffered depression after. Luckily, he had a supportive wife. When his wife died, it was only him and his daughter. He left his daughter with a neighbor to find work and inner peace. He eventually became a crewman in the Airship and is now serving for 20 years and can’t even remember his daughter’s name anymore.

He went back to the neighbor’s place previously, but they weren’t there anymore. When the option to pick comes, choose “Einbroch”.

Talk to him again. He will tell you that a few days ago, a customer from Einbroch left something on the Airship and informed them that he wouldn’t be able to come back to the Airship to get it. His name is Defru Ark and is currently staying at the Einbroch Hotel. Kain Himere will ask you to deliver the said item.

Disembark at Einbroch and proceed to the Einbroch Hotel at /navi einbroch 252/200.

Talk to the Hotel Employee. He will tell you that Defru Ark is staying at Room 201.

Go upstairs and proceed to the room on the lower left. When you walk past the little girl, a dialogue showing her singing will pop-up.

Once inside the room, you will find out that no one’s there. You’ll have a conversation with yourself as to what to do with the item, and decide to just return the item to Kain Himere since Defru Ark is nowhere to be seen.

Once out of the room, the little girl, Elle Cherno, will sing the song again. Choose “What are you singing?”, and she will tell you that it’s the Miner’s Song. She will then ask you to visit her mother in a house behind the hotel.

Proceed to /navi einbroch 276/233 and enter the portal.

Walk straight ahead until you see Tarsha Cherno and Theo Cherno and talk to them.

You will tell them that Elle Cherno asked you to visit Tarsha Cherno as she seems sad or maybe even sick, and the conversation ends with you having to look around the house.

Proceed to the area behind Tarsha Cherno and click on the Unidentified Machine and Mirror.

While settling the mirror down, you will notice that Tarsha Cherno has a scar on her shoulder. Talk to her. She will tell you a bit about her history, and you will be able to connect the dots and think that Kain Himere might be her father.

Go back to the domestic route airship and talk to Kain Himere. He will get the package back as it was undeliverable to Defru Ark. Continue with the conversation and choose “Do you know ‘Miner’s Song?’”

He will tell you that it was his favorite song when he was young. You will then explain to him that you met a little girl in Einbroch singing the song, and apparently her mother taught it to her. The mother remembers the song that was taught to her by her father who went missing years ago.

You two will conclude that Kain Himere might have been the one to teach Tarsha Cherno that song. He will then ask you to go to Einbech to find a journal that may prove that he is Tarsha Cherno’s father.

Disembark at Einbroch again and proceed to the train station to go to Einbech.

Go to the southern part of the map at /navi einbech 47/107 and click on the trees with “…” until the journal shows up.

Read through its contents to find out the truth about Kain Himere and Tarsha Cherno’s relationship. Once done, return to Tarsha Cherno.

Talk to Tarsha Cherno and choose “Check her hands.” once prompted. She will be delighted to hear that her father is still alive and well and offer you free item repair service. She will also tell you to go visit her daughter, Elle Cherno, back at the hotel.

Talk to Elle Cherno, and she will give you a Doodled Message to give to her grandfather, Kain Himere.

Return to Kain Himere in the domestic route airship to receive 4 Free Ticket for Flyship.

How the Airship Works Quest

Board the international route airship and proceed to /navi airplane_01 238/154. Talk to the Airship Captain.

His name is Felrock and once prompted to choose, ask “How does this Airship fly?”.

Talk to him once more. Once prompted to choose, say “Yes, I really want to know!”.

He will tell you that it’s top secret and only the captains are authorized to know. However, there is also a distrust with the management, and decides to tell you if you help him.

He will give you a letter, and you are to deliver it to his brother who is the captain of the other airship. You also need to get his reply.

Switch to the domestic route airship and proceed to /navi airplane 236/163. Talk to Airship Captain Ferlock.

Choose “Give him Tarlock’s Letter.” He will tell you that his brother borrowed a few things from him, but he lost them to the monsters that sometimes attack his airship. You will then be tasked to get 2 Will of the Darkness and 2 Prickly Fruit.

You can get these items from the monsters that attack the international route airship, so you can either go back to the international route airship and patiently wait for the monster attack to get it from them, or if you already have the items in your storage from your other adventures, simply get the items to proceed with the quest.

Once you have the required items, go back to the domestic route airship to find Ferlock and give him the items. He will then give you his reply to Felrock/Tarlock.

Go back to the international route airship and give the letter to Felrock/Tarlock. He’ll tell you that he will read the letter first and the conversation ends.

Talk to him again and choose “Are you done with Ferlock’s letter?”. He isn’t done reading yet, and the conversation ends once more.

Talk to him again and choose “Are you done reading yet?”. This time, he is done reading Ferlock’s letter and tells you the secrets of the airship.

Heart Fragment Quest

Board the domestic route airship /navi airplane 236/63 and talk to Hallen. Choose “Hey kid, what are you doing?”.

After he ends the conversation, talk to him again. He will then ask you to deliver a letter to his cousin Kathy.

Proceed to /navi airplane 36/70 and talk to Kathy. Give her the letter from Hallen.

Talk to her again and select all the options available. Afterwards, go back to Hallen.

Talk to Hallen, and he will tell you that helping others is good. If you agree with him, he will give you a Red Potion. If you choose the other option, the quest proceeds but he will not give you the Red Potion.

Talk to Hallen again, and he will talk about wanting to be an inventor someday. He will also mention the Great Sage Varmundt as well as his curiosity about the airship.

Talk to him again, and the conversation continues with you telling Hallen what you know about the airship, including the Rune Stone and the Heart of Ymir.

Talk to him again, and he will mention that Kathy has mentioned the Heart of Ymir previously when she told him about the drunk man who plays the dice game for apples. After this conversation, Hallen will give you another Red Potion for your help.

Go back to Kathy and ask her about the drunk man. She will tell you that he’s one of her regulars, and he’s supposed to be an Einbroch Lab Director.

Go to the Einbroch Laboratory at /navi einbroch 54/52.

Enter the portal for the dialogue box to pop-up. Choose to identify yourself and enter the correct password within 60 seconds.

To enter the correct password means to repeat the string of texts the dialogue shows you.

You will need to do this twice, as you are required to enter two passwords to enter the laboratory.

Proceed to /navi ein_in01 261/35, and a dialogue box for the Password Checker shows up.

Continue walking to /navi ein_in01 261/35 and start decoding. The password is 3 digits long, consisting of numbers from 1 to 9, and are only entered once.

You are allowed to guess for the 3 digits long password 5 times within 3 minutes before the password resets.

Once the correct password has been entered, you will proceed to read the locked files. You will be able to read a few things about The Varmundt Project, but Ferlock will soon appear asking for a Rune Stone for the airship.

He will recognize you and ask that you get out of the place immediately and meet with him at the domestic route airship.

Proceed to /navi airplane 236/163 and talk to Ferlock. When asked, tell him “Well, there’s someone I need to help…”.

He will then explain what he knows about the Rune Stones, Heart of Ymir, and The Varmundt Project.

Talk to him again, and he will tell you that he thinks that someone is going after the Rune Stones used by the airships. He will explain to you that the Gremlins and Beholders included in the monster attacks in the international route airship might be controlled, but that he has no further information about this at the time.

The conversation and quest ends with him telling you that he’ll let you know once he has more information, and asks that you do the same to him.
